Raiding - Gemming

How are other raiding rogues gemming? I'm still confused a little on what is THE way to gem, I see some go the AP route and others going the AGI route (myself included). If you look at my character sheet I think it's obvious how confused I am LOL.

I still need to get expertise capped and outside of raids I am currently below PHC.

Any suggestions/ideas? Or how are you gemming your rogue?

Regarding AP vs Agi, I'm going with agi. Otherwise, depends on what I need. Right now I'm PHC, but I don't have enough expertise, so expertise in red slots for now. Yellow slots usually get hit rating. Blue ones are complicated :P

Agility and AP as stats for rogues are very closely weighted at the moment, so you can really go either way without much deviation at all to be honest, ( i think the straight AP is just a fraction better )

But if your really serious about maximising your dps i would pay a visit to the elitistjerks website and download Vulajin's dps spreadsheet to have a bit of a play to find the best combo.

I used to feel the same way with spreadsheets, but they help so much! It is so much easier to plug in your gear and the upgrades you want and just see if its a DPS increase...its rather nice.

As for gems, i tend to lean toward AP over Agility gems for pretty much all of my gem slots, since i am close to the PHC and am capped for Expertise as well.

For straight up DPS I'm pretty sure agility just edges out in most situations. Don't quote me on this. Agility also increases dodge chance and armor, so usually I go for agility.

whenever i see a rogue/hunter with pure AP gems instead of pure agility gems, i just point at them and laugh.
They dont realize that AP doesnt scale with blessing of Kings, or certain talents that increase your agility by a percentage, not to mention theyre losing out and dodge, crit and some armor.

I gem for agility. The reason being it scales with the raid buffs a lot nicer than just straight AP. Plus the agility translates into crit. Wrath seems to be the return of the crit.

I'm at the PHC. In Yellow slots I use orange gems +8agil/+8crit (depending on if the slot bonus is worth it), otherwise straight +16agil. When I was below the PHC I used +8agil/+8hit

For purple (blue slots) I use +8agil/+12stam. Or if you need expertise there is a nice +8exp/+12stam one.

first get to PHC after that gem armor pen if u are combat and agi if u aren't this is currently the best choice according to BiS gems on elitejerks and it works very well for me, currently got 21-22% armor pen unbuffed pulling between 4500-6500 dps on most ulduar bosses on 25man on a night where my pc wants to co-operate..

Don't point and laugh. For mutilate specs, raw AP gemming is actually better for pure DPS due to people hitting the crit cap once they get close to BiS. Especially the Dark Matter trinket which provides a boatload of crit rating contributes to this. Hitting this crit cap makes extra crit rating (from gemmed agility for example) useless and a waste of sockets, therefore, gem AP.
